Heb. 2:1

"Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard lest we drift away"

"Drift" is the subtle danger to the committed believer's soul. How easy it is to begin some new committment or task. The excitement and the newness carry us through. Very quickly however we find ourselves not quite as enamored, and this is when the danger of "drift" begins. A boat left at the dock without an anchor or moor will slowly and surely be influenced by the waves around it . It will drift in the direction of the tide of the moment and leave the dock. Giving earnest heed to the Word is the moor or anchor of the soul that will hold us fast and prevent this slow and insidious cooling that leads to lukewarm spiritual life. Guard your quiet time and apply what you learn. Give earnest heed to the Word to prevent "drift".

I think that it is so easy to drift when you get tired. I think one of Satan's most effective attacks is to get you so busy with house work that you are too tired to do anything else and you didn't get it all done so you are grouchy. Maybe I should go for a nautical theme as a reminder to stay anchored....lol
I think it is hard to figure out what you life should consist of and what is just fluff that doesn't matter. Good thoughts.

I like this post... i have to say i agree that so often Satan doesn't try to make us leap to the other side but drift.. i also think it could apply to the day to day stuff like chores... laziness tends to drift in all to quickly in my housework, devotions, prayer, art work.. it isn't that i don't do them but it is how well i am doing them ...
